March of Dimes March for Babies

The March for Babies is less than a week away! Formerly Walk America, the March for Babies champions the needs of moms and babies in our community and across the nation. The money we raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that will help babies get a healthy start.

I will be walking in memory of my daughter, Delilah Kaye, and in honor of her twin brother, William Charles. Lila was diagnosed with an encephalocele and alobar holoprosencephaly when I was 11 weeks pregnant. We were told at that time that she would likely be stillborn or only live a short time after birth. Will and Lila were born at 31 weeks on September 27, 2007 at 2:19am. Will weighed 3lbs 6 ounces and Lila was 1lb 12oz. Lilla lived for 1 hour and 37 minutes and knew only love during her short stay with us here on earth. Fortunately, Will only needed 22 days in the NICU before being able to come home. Today he is a happy and healthy 18 month old thanks to the work done by the March of Dimes.

Book Review: Running with Scissors

I finished reading Running with Scissors on Saturday. I certainly would not say that I enjoyed reading it. It was very, very graphic and I felt like I had to come out of my "perfect world" bubble to finish reading it. My eyes were opened to lives that are very different than mine. I was uncomfortable reading it at times, but it made me grateful to have such a "normal" childhood.

Book Review: Eclipse

Oops! I haven't done a good job at blogging lately. It's been over a month since my last post. Yikes! I will try to do better.

I finished Eclipse last week. I liked it a lot better than New Moon, but not as much as Twilight. The tension between Bella and Edward was very strong and a bit annoying at times, but not so much that it caused me to stop reading. I'm looking forward to reading Breaking Dawn and finding out the end to this saga.

My Sweet Boy!

Will and I were cuddling in the recliner this morning and he was kissing me. I decided to blow him a kiss and see if he would blow me one. He grabbed my hand and kissed it!

Making Language Connections

Will surprises me every day.

One of his favorite books is an alphabet book called B is for Bear. He brings it to me to read at least 6 or 7 times a day. The line for the letter "V" is "V is for vegetables. Which ones should I buy?" He just waved "bye bye" to the vegetables when I said "buy."
